Good Morning, Silog!

Rice n’ Shine!

Feeling peckish? Don’t feel like the normal breakfast routine? or you simply can’t be bothered to cook something quick in the morning?

Put your feet up and leave us to cook you one.

The Philippines isn’t just the home to some of the finest beaches in the world but also the craziest breakfast plate on the planet which is called silog. What is Silog? It’s simply two words combined together: which is sinangag (fried rice) and itlog (egg). It isn’t your normal Eggs Ben, but a Filipino take to an All Day Breakfast.

Fancy eating breakfast like Filipinos? We present to you the anatomy of Bintang’s very own silog:

  1. The Foundation
    Garlic Fried Rice

You might be thinking - that’s nuts! Why would you bloody eat rice for breakfast? But we like to challenge the status quo by having this as the foundation of breakfast. Carbohydrates are good for you - so give your body enough energy it needs to get through your day.

  2. The Brekky Staple
    Egg
Is it really breakfast without this piece of ingredient? The egg is every breakfast’s star - this is your primary source of protein as you start the day. We personally serve this staple to you sunny side up - enough to keep you smiling for the rest of the day.

  3. The Protagonist
    Your choice of main
Like every film or series, there is the lead star - but in this context of silog, we couldn’t keep up with the demand so we give you the liberty to choose your main ulam (viand) with these three superstars:

    Tortang Talong
If you’re not feeling the meat, our fried aubergine omelette is the perfect combination
    Longganisa
This is a Filipino take to chorizo, we personally make our own by mixing lamb and beef
    Tapa
We cure thin cuts of sirloin beef steak - soft, sweet, and tender!

  4. The Refresher
    Pickled Salad

Commonly known as the atchara - this is our take on a side dish for this breakfast heavyweight. Our silogs are normally very sweet as a whole, so we like to bring something to refresh your palette as the final ingredients to bring this breakfast into another flavour using carrots, cucumber, and onion.

We like to think that these four combinations present you to a flavoursome firework on a plate. If you definitely want something filling, then this breakfast is definitely for you.

If you can’t bring yourself to eat this heavy for breakfast alternatively, you can also order them for your lunch or dinner - available all day every day. You can order via UberEats or Deliveroo. You can also drop in our Kentish Town branch and we will automatically give you a 20% off discount to your total bill.
